  7. 7. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel.
  8. 8. Let the pre-dough rise for 15 minutes in a warm place.
  9. 9. Add the remaining whole cane sugar to the dough.
  10. 10. Pour in the remaining lukewarm milk.
  11. 11. Add the butter to the dough.
  12. 12. Add the vanilla sugar.
  13. 13. Add the egg to the dough.
  14. 14. Process everything with the dough hooks of the hand mixer.
  15. 15. Knead the dough until it is smooth.
  16. 16. Cover the bowl again.
  17. 17. Let the dough rise for 35 minutes in a warm place.
  18. 18. Wait until the dough has visibly increased in size.
  19. 19. Sprinkle some flour on a work surface.
  20. 20. Take the dough out and knead it briefly.

  27. 27. Let the braid rise again for 5 minutes.
  28. 28. Mix the egg yolk with the condensed milk.
  29. 29. Brush the braid with the egg yolk-milk mixture.
  30. 30. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  31. 31. Bake the braid at 180°C (convection 160°C, gas level 2-3).
  32. 32. Bake the braid for 30 to 35 minutes.
