🍞 Caramel Walnut Pain Perdu

Ingrédients
- 250 g day-old bread, sliced
- 3 eggs (Size M)
- 150 ml whole milk
- 5 ml vanilla extract
- 60 g sugar
- 40 g walnuts, chopped
- 20 g butter
- 2 g cinnamon
Préparation
- 1. Whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract in a shallow, wide bowl.
- 2. Place the bread slices briefly into the egg mixture and turn them until both sides have absorbed the liquid.
- 3. Melt a portion of the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat.
- 4. Place the soaked bread slices in the pan and fry them until golden brown and crispy, approx. 3 minutes per side.
- 5. Remove the finished slices from the pan and place them on a plate.
- 6. Add the remaining sugar and a splash of water to the still hot pan and let it melt into golden-brown caramel.
- 7. Carefully deglaze with the remaining butter when the caramel bubbles, and stir in the chopped walnuts and cinnamon.
- 8. Pour the warm caramel walnut mixture over the fried bread slices and serve immediately.
