  4. 4. Reduce the heat to low and let the rice cook in the covered pot for 20 minutes.
  5. 5. Stir the rice once after 10 minutes (halfway through the cooking time).
  6. 6. Stir the rice well again after 20 minutes.
  7. 7. Turn off the stove.
  8. 8. Let the rice sit in the pot for another 5 to 10 minutes to absorb the heat.
  9. 9. Peel the pears meanwhile.
  10. 10. Halve the pears and remove the core.
  11. 11. Cut the pear flesh into small cubes.
  12. 12. Heat the butter in a pot.
  13. 13. Add the pear cubes, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick to the hot butter.
  14. 14. Caramelize the pears for 4 minutes with two tablespoons of honey.
  15. 15. Pour in one tablespoon of water.
  16. 16. Let the pears simmer for 5 minutes.
  17. 17. Toast the nuts in a hot pan without fat.
  18. 18. Use medium heat and toast the nuts for 3 minutes.
  19. 19. Let the nuts cool down briefly.
  20. 20. Chop the nuts coarsely.
  21. 21. Stir the rice pudding once more.
  22. 22. Place one-third of the rice into four glasses.
  23. 23. Layer the pears and nuts into the glasses.
  24. 24. Repeat the layering until all ingredients are used up.
  25. 25. Finish the layers with a layer of pear compote.
  26. 26. Sprinkle the dessert with the remaining nuts.
  27. 27. Serve the trifle.
