  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (top/bottom heat).
  2. 2. Grease a shallow baking dish (approx. 20x20 cm) with the butter.
  3. 3. Whisk the eggs and sugar in a large bowl with a whisk until the mixture is light and creamy.
  4. 4. Stir the milk and vanilla extract into the egg mixture.
  5. 5. Sift the flour over it and whisk until smooth, so no lumps remain.
  6. 6. Pour half of the mixture into the prepared dish and distribute the chocolate chips evenly on top.
  7. 7. Pour the remaining batter over it.
  8. 8. Bake the clafoutis for 30 to 35 minutes in the oven until golden brown and barely jiggling in the center.
  9. 9. Let the dessert cool for 10 minutes before serving it.
