  1. 1. Lay the toast slices flat on a clean work surface.
  2. 2. Optionally brush the edges of the toast slices with a little butter so they become especially crispy later.
  3. 3. Top each toast slice with a slice of cooked ham.
  4. 4. Place a drained pineapple slice or some pineapple pieces in the center on top of the ham.
  5. 5. Cover everything with a slice of cheese (e.g., Gouda or Edamer) so that the filling is completely covered.
  6. 6. Place a piece of baking paper or a suitable silicone mold in the basket of the air fryer to facilitate melting.
  7. 7. Place the topped toast slices side by side in the prepared basket without touching each other.
  8. 8. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C and bake the toasts for 8 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  9. 9. Check after 8 minutes if the toast is crispy, and extend the time by 1–2 minutes if necessary.
  10. 10. Remove the toasts and let them rest for 2 minutes so that the cheese sets slightly.
  11. 11. Serve the Toast Hawaii hot, ideally with a small green salad or plain.
