Ingredients
- 4 slices toast bread
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 4 slices pineapple
- 4 slices Gouda or Edamer
- Some butter
Instructions
- 1. Lay the toast slices flat on a clean work surface.
- 2. Optionally brush the edges of the toast slices with a little butter so they become especially crispy later.
- 3. Top each toast slice with a slice of cooked ham.
- 4. Place a drained pineapple slice or some pineapple pieces in the center on top of the ham.
- 5. Cover everything with a slice of cheese (e.g., Gouda or Edamer) so that the filling is completely covered.
- 6. Place a piece of baking paper or a suitable silicone mold in the basket of the air fryer to facilitate melting.
- 7. Place the topped toast slices side by side in the prepared basket without touching each other.
- 8. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C and bake the toasts for 8 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- 9. Check after 8 minutes if the toast is crispy, and extend the time by 1–2 minutes if necessary.
- 10. Remove the toasts and let them rest for 2 minutes so that the cheese sets slightly.
- 11. Serve the Toast Hawaii hot, ideally with a small green salad or plain.
