Instructions

  1. 1. Wash the potatoes thoroughly under running water. You can peel them, but leaving the skin on gives a more rustic look. Cut them into thick wedges about 1.5 to 2 centimeters thick. Ensure all wedges are roughly the same size so they cook evenly.
  2. 2. Place the potato wedges in a bowl of cold water for at least 20 minutes. This rinses away excess starch. Drain the water afterwards and dry the wedges thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, mix the olive oil with paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add the dry potato wedges and toss everything well until every piece is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  4. 4. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C. Place the seasoned potatoes in the basket, ideally in a single layer. If your basket is small, cook them in two batches. Shake the basket or turn the fries halfway through cooking so they become evenly crispy.
  5. 5. Cook the fries at 200 °C for about 20 minutes. Depending on the thickness of the wedges, it may take 2 to 3 minutes longer. The fries are done when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  6. 6. Remove the finished Steakhouse Fries from the air fryer and place them on kitchen paper for 5 minutes. This allows them to rest and become even crispier.
  7. 7. Serve the fries hot. You can enjoy them with a squeeze of lemon juice, fresh herbs, or a creamy dip like aioli or sour cream.
