Ingredients
- 12 pieces dates
- 6 slices breakfast bacon
- 12 pieces blanched almonds or small pieces blue cheese
- Toothpicks or small skewers
Instructions
- 1. Place the pitted dates on a clean cutting board.
- 2. Optionally stuff each date with a blanched almond or a piece of blue cheese for extra flavor.
- 3. Soak the toothpicks in cold water for 10 minutes to prevent them from burning during cooking.
- 4. Drain the soaked toothpicks well.
- 5. Wrap each date loosely with half a slice of breakfast bacon.
- 6. Ensure the bacon lies close to the date but is not wrapped too tightly.
- 7. Secure the wrapped dates with one of the drained toothpicks.
- 8. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C.
- 9. Place the bacon-wrapped dates into the fryer basket.
- 10. Make sure the dates do not touch each other in the basket.
- 11. Cook the dates at 200 °C for 7 to 8 minutes.
- 12. Carefully turn the dates halfway through the cooking time to ensure even browning.
- 13. Remove the cooked bacon-wrapped dates from the air fryer.
- 14. Place the dates on a piece of kitchen paper for 2 minutes.
- 15. Let the dates cool slightly and absorb any excess fat.
