Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
  2. 2. Add the fresh broccoli to the boiling water for about 5 minutes to cook it (this is called blanching).
  3. 3. If you are using frozen broccoli, let it thaw completely instead.
  4. 4. Drain the broccoli and press it well to remove excess moisture so it is not wet.
  5. 5. Finely chop the dry broccoli.
  6. 6. Place the chopped broccoli into a large bowl.
  7. 7. Add the Parmesan, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, and lemon juice to the bowl.
  8. 8. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
  9. 9. Mix all ingredients well with your hands or a spoon until a moldable mass forms.
  10. 10. Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball.
  11. 11. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
  12. 12. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil.
  13. 13. Place the broccoli balls into the air fryer basket.
  14. 14. Make sure the balls are not too close together so that air can circulate.
  15. 15. Cook the balls for 10 minutes at 180 °C in the air fryer.
  16. 16. Turn the balls once after half the time (i.e., after 5 minutes).
  17. 17. Remove the balls from the air fryer when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  18. 18. Let the balls rest briefly before serving.
  19. 19. Serve the balls with a dip of your choice, such as yogurt herb sauce or aioli.
