Ingredients
- 200 g broccoli
- 50 g parmesan
- 1 piece egg
- 30 g breadcrumbs
- 1 piece garlic clove
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper to taste
- some olive oil spray for the air fryer
Instructions
- 1. Bring a pot of water to a boil.
- 2. Add the fresh broccoli to the boiling water for about 5 minutes to cook it (this is called blanching).
- 3. If you are using frozen broccoli, let it thaw completely instead.
- 4. Drain the broccoli and press it well to remove excess moisture so it is not wet.
- 5. Finely chop the dry broccoli.
- 6. Place the chopped broccoli into a large bowl.
- 7. Add the Parmesan, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, and lemon juice to the bowl.
- 8. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.
- 9. Mix all ingredients well with your hands or a spoon until a moldable mass forms.
- 10. Shape the mixture into small balls, about the size of a ping pong ball.
- 11. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
- 12. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil.
- 13. Place the broccoli balls into the air fryer basket.
- 14. Make sure the balls are not too close together so that air can circulate.
- 15. Cook the balls for 10 minutes at 180 °C in the air fryer.
- 16. Turn the balls once after half the time (i.e., after 5 minutes).
- 17. Remove the balls from the air fryer when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- 18. Let the balls rest briefly before serving.
- 19. Serve the balls with a dip of your choice, such as yogurt herb sauce or aioli.
