Ingredients
- 200 g Mozzarella
- 40 g flour
- 2 piece egg
- 80 g Cornflakes
- ½ tsp paprika powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Some oil for spraying
Instructions
- 1. Cut the mozzarella block into sticks about 1 cm thick. You should get about 10 pieces. Place the cheese sticks on a cutting board and put them in the freezer compartment for 10 minutes. This helps prevent the cheese from melting immediately during cooking.
- 2. Prepare three separate bowls. Fill the first bowl with flour. Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper in the second bowl. Crush the cornflakes roughly with your hands or a mortar in the third bowl and mix them with paprika and garlic powder.
- 3. Take the chilled mozzarella sticks out of the freezer. Coat each stick first in the flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the cornflake mixture. For extra crispiness, you can repeat the process with egg and cornflakes.
- 4. Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Put the sheet in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes. This firms up the coating so the cheese does not leak out during cooking.
- 5. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C. Place the mozzarella sticks in the basket and spray them lightly with oil. Cook them for 6 to 8 minutes. Check the doneness in between – the sticks should be golden brown and crispy.
- 6. Serve the mozzarella sticks best immediately while hot. Accompany them with a dip of your choice, such as sweet and spicy chili sauce, ketchup, or a garlic dip.
