🍽️ Crispy Low-Fat Mozzarella Sticks from the Air Fryer

Ingredients
- 100 g low-fat mozzarella
- 1 piece egg
- 30 g breadcrumbs
- 20 g panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp pepper
- spray oil
Instructions
- 1. Cut the low-fat mozzarella cheese into sticks about 1 centimeter thick.
- 2. Place the cheese sticks in the freezer for 30 minutes to firm them up so they do not melt during cooking.
- 3. Whisk an egg in a shallow bowl.
- 4. Put the flour into a second bowl.
- 5. Mix breadcrumbs, panko, garlic powder, paprika powder, salt, and pepper in a third bowl.
- 6. Roll the frozen cheese sticks first in the flour.
- 7. Dip the floured sticks into the whisked egg.
- 8. Then roll the cheese sticks in the breadcrumb mixture.
- 9. Press the coating slightly to ensure it sticks well to the cheese.
- 10. Optionally dip the sticks again in egg and breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.
- 11. Place the breaded sticks back in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- 12. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C.
- 13. Place the frozen mozzarella sticks into the air fryer basket.
- 14. Lightly spray the sticks with cooking oil spray.
- 15. Cook the sticks for 6 to 8 minutes at 200 °C.
- 16. Turn the sticks once halfway through the cooking time.
- 17. Remove the sticks when they are golden brown and crispy.
- 18. Serve the mozzarella sticks immediately with a light tomato or yogurt sauce for dipping.
