  1. 1. Take the salmon fillets out of the fridge about 15 minutes before cooking so they reach room temperature.
  2. 2. Rinse them briefly under cold water and then pat them very thoroughly dry with kitchen paper.
  3. 3. Mix the olive oil, the zest and juice of half a lemon, the chopped garlic, dill, salt and pepper in a small bowl.
  4. 4. Brush the salmon fillets generously with the marinade on all sides, but leave the skin side out for now.
  5. 5. Rub the skin side only with a little olive oil and salt to maximize crispiness.
  6. 6. Preheat your air fryer for 3 minutes at 200°C.
  7. 7. Line the bottom of the basket with a suitable piece of perforated paper or lightly spray the grid with oil to prevent sticking.
  8. 8. Carefully place the marinated salmon fillets skin-side up into the preheated basket of the air fryer.
  9. 9. Make sure there is some space between the fillets so that the hot air can circulate optimally and the fish cooks evenly.
  10. 10. Push the basket into the device.
  11. 11. Cook the salmon for 8 to 10 minutes at 200°C.
  12. 12. Turning the fish is not necessary nor recommended, as the delicate fillet could easily fall apart.
  13. 13. The exact cooking time depends on the thickness of the fillets.
  14. 14. After 8 minutes, you can check the doneness for the first time: the flesh should still be slightly glassy and tender pink inside.
  15. 15. If you gently pull at the thickest part with a fork, it should flake into juicy slices.
  16. 16. For completely cooked salmon, extend the time by 1-2 minutes.
  17. 17. Carefully remove the basket from the air fryer.
  18. 18. Lift the salmon fillets out with a spatula and let them rest on the plate for 1-2 minutes before serving.
  19. 19. During this time, the juice inside the fish distributes evenly.
  20. 20. Drizzle the salmon with some fresh lemon juice as desired and serve immediately.
