Ingredients
- 250 g tofu
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1 pinch salt
- Some vegetable oil for spraying
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp lime juice
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp 2–3 warm water for thinning
Instructions
- 1. Take the tofu out of the package and wrap it in kitchen paper.
- 2. Place a heavy object, such as a pot, on top of the tofu.
- 3. Let the tofu sit under the weight for 10 minutes to let the excess liquid escape.
- 4. Whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, and rice vinegar together in a bowl.
- 5. Cut the tofu into cubes of about 2 cm in size.
- 6. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and turn them gently to ensure they are well coated.
- 7. Let the tofu cubes marinate for 5 to 10 minutes.
- 8. Mix cornstarch, paprika powder, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl.
- 9. Roll each tofu cube individually in the starch mixture until it is covered all over.
- 10. Place the breaded tofu cubes in the air fryer basket so that they do not touch each other.
- 11. Lightly spray or brush the tofu cubes with oil.
- 12. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C and cook the tofu for 13 to 15 minutes.
- 13. Shake the basket gently halfway through the cooking time to ensure the tofu becomes evenly crispy.
- 14. While the tofu is cooking, whisk all the ingredients for the dip together in a small bowl.
- 15. Thin the dip with warm water as needed until you reach the desired consistency.
- 16. Serve the crispy tofu with the peanut dip.
- 17. Optionally garnish the dish with spring onions, sesame seeds, or cilantro.
