  1. 1. Peel the potatoes or wash them thoroughly if you want to keep the skin.
  2. 2. Slice the potatoes into very thin rounds (approx. 2-3 mm) using a vegetable slicer or sharp knife.
  3. 3. Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water.
  4. 4. Let the slices soak in the water for at least 20 minutes to remove excess starch.
  5. 5. Drain the water and spread the potato slices out on a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  6. 6. Pat the slices carefully dry so they become crispy later.
  7. 7. Put the dry potato slices into a bowl.
  8. 8. Add the oil and mix everything well so that every slice is lightly coated.
  9. 9. Add spices like paprika powder if desired, but do not add salt yet.
  10. 10. Preheat the air fryer to 185 °C.
  11. 11. Place the potato slices in a single layer in the basket without overlapping them.
  12. 12. Cook the chips for 10-12 minutes at 185 °C in the air fryer.
  13. 13. Shake the basket carefully after about 5-6 minutes to turn the chips.
  14. 14. Watch the chips closely towards the end of the cooking time so they do not burn.
  15. 15. Remove the finished chips from the air fryer and place them on paper towels.
  16. 16. Sprinkle the warm chips with salt and additional spices to taste.
  17. 17. Let the chips cool down briefly before enjoying them fresh and crispy.
