  1. 1. Thoroughly wash the green asparagus under running water.
  2. 2. Snap off the lower woody end of the stalks (approx. 2 cm) by bending them gently until they break at the natural point.
  3. 3. Cut very thick asparagus stalks in half lengthwise to ensure even cooking.
  4. 4. Place the prepared asparagus into a large bowl.
  5. 5. Add olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
  6. 6. Add some garlic powder if desired.
  7. 7. Mix everything well until the asparagus is evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
  8. 8. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C.
  9. 9. Spread the seasoned asparagus evenly in the cooking basket or on the rack of the air fryer.
  10. 10. Make sure the stalks do not overlap.
  11. 11. Cook the asparagus at 200 °C for about 10 minutes.
  12. 12. Shake the basket briefly in between or turn the stalks once to ensure even browning.
  13. 13. Remove the asparagus when it is lightly browned and crispy on the outside.
  14. 14. Serve the asparagus immediately while warm.
  15. 15. Drizzle with some lemon juice if desired.
  16. 16. Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan or toasted pine nuts.
