  1. 1. Place the red lentils in a pot and cover them with water.
  2. 2. Cook the lentils for about 10 minutes until they are soft.
  3. 3. Drain the water and let the lentils cool down briefly.
  4. 4. Transfer the cooled lentils into a large bowl.
  5. 5. Mash the lentils slightly with a fork.
  6. 6. Add the diced onion and chopped garlic to the lentil mixture.
  7. 7. Add the oat flakes and the breadcrumbs.
  8. 8. Season the mixture with paprika powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  9. 9. Add the olive oil and the lemon juice.
  10. 10. Mix everything well together with the chopped parsley.
  11. 11. Shape the mixture into small, round balls.
  12. 12. If the mixture is too sticky, add a little more breadcrumbs.
  13. 13. Place the finished balls in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  14. 14. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
  15. 15. Place the lentile balls in the basket of the air fryer.
  16. 16. Cook the balls for 15 minutes at 180 °C.
  17. 17. Turn the balls after 7.5 minutes so they brown evenly.
  18. 18. Remove the crispy balls from the air fryer.
  19. 19. Serve the lentile balls hot.
  20. 20. Optionally add a squeeze of lemon juice or a dip.
