🍽️ Baumstriezel from the Air Fryer: How to Easily Make the Christmas Market Classic in the Airfryer

Ingredients
- 275 g wheat flour
- 100 ml milk
- 10 g fresh yeast
- 30 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch salt
- 30 g butter (soft)
- 60 g butter (melted)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 100 g sugar
Instructions
- 1. Warm the milk until it is lukewarm.
- 2. Stir sugar, vanilla sugar, and yeast into the lukewarm milk until dissolved.
- 3. Put the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center.
- 4. Pour the yeast milk, the egg, and the salt into the well.
- 5. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
- 6. Place the yeast dough in a lightly oiled bowl.
- 7. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel.
- 8. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it has doubled in volume.
- 9. Wrap a rolling pin tightly with aluminum foil.
- 10. Roll out the yeast dough into a rectangle of approx. 42 x 36 cm.
- 11. Cut the dough rectangle into 1 cm wide strips using a pizza cutter.
- 12. Wrap 6 to 7 strips one after the other around the rolling pin.
- 13. Leave the handles of the rolling pin free.
- 14. Melt the butter in a small saucepan.
- 15. Brush the Baumstriezel with the melted butter.
- 16. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- 17. Roll the buttered Baumstriezel in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- 18. Place a small baking dish in the basket of your air fryer.
- 19. Hang the rolling pin with the dough over the air fryer.
- 20. Make sure the dough does not touch the bottom of the baking dish.
- 21. Preheat the air fryer to 160 °C.
- 22. Bake the Baumstriezel for 13 to 15 minutes at 160 °C.
- 23. Turn the Baumstriezel after 7 minutes of baking time.
- 24. Carefully remove the finished Baumstriezel from the rolling pin.
- 25. Enjoy the Baumstriezel while it is still lukewarm.
- 26. Repeat steps 9 to 25 until your dough is used up.
