  1. 1. Warm the milk until it is lukewarm.
  2. 2. Stir sugar, vanilla sugar, and yeast into the lukewarm milk until dissolved.
  3. 3. Put the flour in a large bowl and make a well in the center.
  4. 4. Pour the yeast milk, the egg, and the salt into the well.
  5. 5. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  6. 6. Place the yeast dough in a lightly oiled bowl.
  7. 7. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel.
  8. 8. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour until it has doubled in volume.
  9. 9. Wrap a rolling pin tightly with aluminum foil.
  10. 10. Roll out the yeast dough into a rectangle of approx. 42 x 36 cm.
  11. 11. Cut the dough rectangle into 1 cm wide strips using a pizza cutter.
  12. 12. Wrap 6 to 7 strips one after the other around the rolling pin.
  13. 13. Leave the handles of the rolling pin free.
  14. 14. Melt the butter in a small saucepan.
  15. 15. Brush the Baumstriezel with the melted butter.
  16. 16. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  17. 17. Roll the buttered Baumstriezel in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  18. 18. Place a small baking dish in the basket of your air fryer.
  19. 19. Hang the rolling pin with the dough over the air fryer.
  20. 20. Make sure the dough does not touch the bottom of the baking dish.
  21. 21. Preheat the air fryer to 160 °C.
  22. 22. Bake the Baumstriezel for 13 to 15 minutes at 160 °C.
  23. 23. Turn the Baumstriezel after 7 minutes of baking time.
  24. 24. Carefully remove the finished Baumstriezel from the rolling pin.
  25. 25. Enjoy the Baumstriezel while it is still lukewarm.
  26. 26. Repeat steps 9 to 25 until your dough is used up.
