🍽️ Crispy Asparagus Rolls with Ham and Cheese

Ingredients
- 4 stalks white asparagus
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch sugar
- 1-2 slices Gouda
- 1-2 slices cooking ham (large slices)
- etwas flour
- 1-2 egg(s)
- etwas breadcrumbs and/or panko flour
- etwas paprika seasoning
- etwas oil (for frying)
Instructions
- 1. Peel the asparagus thoroughly.
- 2. Fill a pot with water and add a pinch of salt and a small spoonful of sugar.
- 3. Bring the water to a boil and add the asparagus spears.
- 4. Cook the asparagus for about 8 minutes until it is still slightly firm.
- 5. Remove the asparagus from the water and let it drain well in a colander.
- 6. Lay a slice of ham flat on a work surface.
- 7. Place a piece of Gouda cheese in the center of the ham.
- 8. Place two asparagus spears side by side on the cheese.
- 9. Wrap the ham tightly around the asparagus and cheese.
- 10. Secure the parcel with a trussing needle or a toothpick.
- 11. Prepare three shallow bowls for the breading.
- 12. Fill the first bowl with flour.
- 13. Whisk eggs in the second bowl.
- 14. Add breadcrumbs or panko flour to the third bowl and mix in some paprika seasoning.
- 15. Coat the asparagus parcel thoroughly in the flour.
- 16. Then dip the floured parcel into the egg mixture.
- 17. Finally, press the asparagus parcel firmly into the breadcrumb mixture.
- 18. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C.
- 19. Place the breaded asparagus parcel in the basket of the air fryer.
- 20. Cook the parcel for 10 to 12 minutes until it is golden brown and crispy.
