  1. 1. Put the 400 g chickpeas in a sieve and rinse them thoroughly with cold water.
  2. 2. Let the chickpeas drain completely and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
  3. 3. Peel the onion and cut it into coarse pieces for the blender.
  4. 4. Peel the 2 garlic cloves and place them whole in the bowl.
  5. 5. Wash 1 bunch of parsley and pluck the leaves from the stems.
  6. 6. Chop the parsley leaves coarsely and add them to the onion.
  7. 7. Put the drained chickpeas, onion, garlic and parsley into a large bowl.
  8. 8. Sprinkle 1 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper over the mixture.
  9. 9. Add 1 tsp baking powder and the 2 tbsp flour to the mixture.
  10. 10. Mash everything with a fork or in the blender to a coarse, sticky dough.
  11. 11. Form the dough into 8 equal-sized balls (approx. 3 cm diameter).
  12. 12. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C until the signal sounds.
  13. 13. Place the falafel in the basket and spray them lightly with oil.
  14. 14. Cook the falafel for 10 minutes at 180 °C, turning them once after 5 minutes, until they are golden brown.
  15. 15. Remove the falafel and let them rest for 2 minutes until they firm up.
  16. 16. Serve the falafel warm: they are perfect when golden brown and crispy.
