Ingredients
- 4 Vegetarian Sausages
- 1 EL Curry Powder
- 2 EL Ketchup
- 1 EL Tomato Paste
- 1 TL Sugar
- 1 Prise Salt
- 1 TL Paprika Powder
- 1 EL Oil
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
- 2. Pat the 4 vegetarian sausages dry with paper towels. Wet sausages won’t get crispy.
- 3. Lightly brush the 4 sausages with 1 tbsp oil. This helps the spices stick later.
- 4. Place the 4 sausages in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don’t touch.
- 5. Cook the sausages at 180 °C for 10 minutes. Flip them once after 5 minutes, until golden brown.
- 6. Briefly remove the sausages from the air fryer and place them on a plate. They are now par-cooked.
- 7. In a small bowl, mix 1 tbsp ketchup with 1 tbsp tomato paste.
- 8. Add 1 tbsp curry powder and 1 tsp paprika to the bowl. Stir until smooth.
- 9. Balance the sauce with 1 tsp sugar and a pinch of salt. The sugar reduces the acidity.
- 10. Cut the 4 par-cooked sausages into equal, bite-sized pieces. A diagonal cut looks nicer.
- 11. Toss the sausage pieces in the curry sauce until fully coated. Don’t stir for too long.
- 12. Place the coated sausage pieces back into the air fryer basket. Spread them out in a single layer.
- 13. Cook everything at 180 °C for 5 minutes. The sauce should thicken slightly and cling.
- 14. Remove the currywurst from the air fryer and serve it on two plates. Serve immediately.
