🍮 Vanilla Custard Square

Ingredients
- 1 Rolle (500 g) Puff pastry (chilled)
- 500 ml Whole milk
- 4 Stück Egg yolks
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 TL Vanilla extract
- 1 Schüssel Ice cubes
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (conventional heat).
- 2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly and place it in a greased square baking dish (approx. 20x20 cm). Prick the bottom several times with a fork.
- 3. Heat the milk in a saucepan almost to boiling, then remove it from the heat.
- 4. Whisk the egg yolks, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
- 5. Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg yolk mixture while whisking constantly.
- 6. Pour the cream over the pastry. Place a sheet of baking paper over the dish and put another baking dish on top to prevent leaking.
- 7. Bake the square in the oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until the center barely jiggles.
- 8. Remove the tray and place it immediately into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let it cool completely.
