🥧 Norman Apple-Cheese Tart with Bacon

Ingredients
- 1 Packung (ca. 320 g) Puff pastry (refrigerated)
- 150 g Bacon cubes
- 3 Stück (ca. 450 g) Apples (e.g., Boskoop)
- 2 Stück (mittel) Onions
- 150 g Gouda (grated)
- 200 ml Crème fraîche or sour cream
- 1 Prise Nutmeg (ground)
- nach Bedarf Salt and pepper
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (390 °F) conventional mode. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2. Fry the bacon cubes in a pan until crispy. Remove them from the pan and set aside. Pour off excess fat, but leave one tablespoon behind.
- 3. Peel the apples, remove the core, and cut them into thin wedges. Peel and finely dice the onions.
- 4. Sauté the onions in the remaining fat for 5 minutes until soft. Add the apple wedges and sauté for another 3 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- 5. Roll out the puff pastry on the parchment paper into a rectangle. Prick the base several times with a fork.
- 6. Whisk the crème fraîche (add eggs if using, otherwise just crème fraîche) and pour half over the pastry. Spread the apple-onion mixture evenly on top.
- 7. Spread the remaining crème fraîche on top. Distribute the grated Gouda and crispy bacon evenly.
- 8. Bake the tart for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Let it cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares.
