120 g ready-made mix (for vegetable patties "Chili-vegetables", vegetarian)
2 tbsp tomato paste (spicy)
1 small onion(s), red (or shallot)
1 egg
4 tbsp breadcrumbs (possibly more, if you added too much water)
3 tbsp water
1 tsp herbs de Provence (preferably ground)
1 tsp, leveled chili powder (to taste)
Instructions
1. Mix the meatball mixture with finely chopped onion, tomato paste, chili, breadcrumbs, one egg, and some water. Adjust the amount of tomato paste and water to your taste.
2. Let the mixture rest for about 15 minutes to allow it to bind.
3. Check the consistency: If the mixture is too soft, add more breadcrumbs. If it is too dry, add a few drops of water.
4. Form walnut-sized balls (slightly larger is also fine). If you want a vegan version, omit the egg, but note that it will not bind as well.
5. Place the balls into the grill tray of the Actifry.
6. Add about half a measuring spoon of oil (less if you are making fewer balls).
7. Press the 2in1 button on the display. Select 180 °C and set the time to 5 minutes. Start the device.
8. After 5 minutes, open the lid and turn the balls over.
9. Close the lid and grill the balls again at 180 °C for another 5 minutes.
10. Remove the crispy, savory balls. They pair perfectly with salad, fries, or as a buffet side dish.
11. Note: With a larger amount of mixture, you will get about 6 balls per person.
