  1. 1. Rinse the chickpeas and drain them in a sieve.
  2. 2. Cut onion, carrots, celery, and peppers into approx. 1 cm cubes.
  3. 3. Heat the olive oil in a large pot. Sauté the vegetables for 5 minutes over medium heat.
  4. 4. Press the garlic through a press and stir in the smoked paprika. Fry for 1 minute while stirring.
  5. 5. Add the chickpeas and canned tomatoes (with juice) to the pot. Stir well.
  6. 6. Pour in the hot vegetable broth. Bring everything to a boil and then simmer on low heat for 10 minutes.
  7. 7. Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Stir well and serve warm.
