1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk and mix with a bit of sugar. In a bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, an egg, and softened butter, then add the yeast milk and knead everything into a smooth dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.
2. Briefly bring the ground poppy seeds with milk and honey to a boil in a small pot until a spreadable consistency is achieved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
3. Roll out the yeast dough into a rectangle, evenly spread the poppy filling on top, and roll it up from the long side. Cut into about 12 pieces, place on a baking sheet, and let them rise for another 15 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for about 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
