  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (390 °F) conventional mode.
  2. 2. Wash the peppers, remove the stems and seeds, and cut them into large pieces.
  3. 3. Place the pepper pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes until the skin is charred brown.
  4. 4. Remove the peppers from the oven, place them in a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Let them steam for 10 minutes to make the skin easy to peel.
  5. 5. Roughly chop the peeled peppers into bite-sized strips and place them in a large salad bowl.
  6. 6. Wash the tomatoes, halve them, and dice the onion finely. Add them to the peppers.
  7. 7. Open the sardine cans, blot excess oil with a paper towel, and roughly flake the fish into the bowl with a fork.
  8. 8. Whisk the olive oil with lemon juice and salt. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss everything gently.
  9. 9. Sprinkle the salad with fresh cilantro and serve immediately.
