  4. 4. Return the mixture to the stove and thicken over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  5. 5. Pour the vanilla cream into a bowl and let it cool.
  6. 6. Layer the puff pastry and vanilla cream, dusting with powdered sugar at the top.
