Instructions

  1. 1. Cut the tuna into 2 equally thick steaks. Pat them dry – never wash, or they’ll become mushy.
  2. 2. Season the steaks with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper. Rub the seasoning in well.
  3. 3. Slice the onion into fine rings. Gently separate the rings with your fingers.
  4. 4. Halve the 200 g cherry tomatoes. Cut them in the middle.
  5. 5. Halve the 100 g olives. Cut them lengthwise.
  6. 6. Finely chop the 2 garlic cloves. Make sure they aren’t too small, so they don’t burn.
  7. 7. Mix the onion rings, tomatoes, olives, and garlic in a bowl.
  8. 8. Add 2 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Stir everything well.
  9. 9. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
  10. 10. Place the tuna steaks in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don’t overlap.
  11. 11. Spread the vegetable-olive mix evenly over the steaks. Press it on gently.
  12. 12. Cook the dish at 180 °C for 10 minutes, until the fish is golden brown.
  13. 13. Carefully remove the tuna from the air fryer. Let it rest for 2 minutes to redistribute the juices.
  14. 14. Place the steaks on plates. Top with the hot vegetable-olive mix. The fish should be pink and juicy.
