Ingredients
- 500g Octopus (mainly tentacles)
- 2 EL Lemon juice
- 2 EL Olive oil
- 2 Zehen Garlic
- 1 Onion
- 200g Cherry tomatoes
- 1 Bund Thyme
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
Instructions
- 1. Pat the octopus dry with paper towels. Never wash it, that spreads germs.
- 2. Cut the tentacles into bite-sized pieces. Pieces about 3 to 4 cm in size are ideal.
- 3. Halve the 200 g cherry tomatoes. Simply cut them lengthwise.
- 4. Peel the 1 onion and dice it finely. Don't make it too small, or it will burn.
- 5. Peel the 2 garlic cloves and press them through a press. Alternatively, chop them finely.
- 6. Wash the thyme and pluck the leaves from the stems. Discard the tough stems.
- 7. Put the octopus in a large bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 tablespoons olive oil.
- 8. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper over it. Season now, not later.
- 9. Add the onion cubes, garlic, and half of the tomatoes to the bowl. Mix everything well.
- 10. Sprinkle the thyme leaves over the mixture. Gently press them into the meat.
- 11. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes. Wait until it’s hot.
- 12. Put the entire mixture into the air fryer basket. Spread it evenly in one layer.
- 13. Cook the dish at 180 °C for 15 minutes, until the octopus is tender and the tomatoes are soft. Pull out the basket after 7 minutes.
- 14. Shake the basket vigorously. Turn the octopus and tomatoes so everything cooks evenly.
- 15. Close the basket and cook for another 8 minutes. Until the octopus is tender and the tomatoes are soft.
- 16. Remove the basket and let the dish rest for 2 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- 17. Serve the octopus directly from the basket. It’s perfect when the meat easily comes away from the bone.
