Ingredients

Instructions

  1. 1. Pat the octopus dry with paper towels. Never wash it, that spreads germs.
  2. 2. Cut the tentacles into bite-sized pieces. Pieces about 3 to 4 cm in size are ideal.
  3. 3. Halve the 200 g cherry tomatoes. Simply cut them lengthwise.
  4. 4. Peel the 1 onion and dice it finely. Don't make it too small, or it will burn.
  5. 5. Peel the 2 garlic cloves and press them through a press. Alternatively, chop them finely.
  6. 6. Wash the thyme and pluck the leaves from the stems. Discard the tough stems.
  7. 7. Put the octopus in a large bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 tablespoons olive oil.
  8. 8. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper over it. Season now, not later.
  9. 9. Add the onion cubes, garlic, and half of the tomatoes to the bowl. Mix everything well.
  10. 10. Sprinkle the thyme leaves over the mixture. Gently press them into the meat.
  11. 11. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes. Wait until it’s hot.
  12. 12. Put the entire mixture into the air fryer basket. Spread it evenly in one layer.
  13. 13. Cook the dish at 180 °C for 15 minutes, until the octopus is tender and the tomatoes are soft. Pull out the basket after 7 minutes.
  14. 14. Shake the basket vigorously. Turn the octopus and tomatoes so everything cooks evenly.
  15. 15. Close the basket and cook for another 8 minutes. Until the octopus is tender and the tomatoes are soft.
  16. 16. Remove the basket and let the dish rest for 2 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
  17. 17. Serve the octopus directly from the basket. It’s perfect when the meat easily comes away from the bone.
