  1. 1. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes.
  2. 2. Peel the onion and dice it finely.
  3. 3. Peel the garlic clove and chop it finely.
  4. 4. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a small pan over medium heat.
  5. 5. Fry the onion cubes for about 3 minutes, until they are soft.
  6. 6. Add the garlic and fry it for 1 minute with the onions.
  7. 7. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.
  8. 8. Place the 500g ground beef in a large bowl.
  9. 9. Add the cooled onion-garlic mixture.
  10. 10. Add the 100g breadcrumbs, the egg, and the tomato paste.
  11. 11. Season with 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper.
  12. 12. Knead everything together with your hands for about 2 minutes until it forms a smooth mass.
  13. 13. Form 12 equal-sized meatballs and place them in the air fryer basket.
  14. 14. Cook the meatballs in the air fryer at 180 °C for about 10 minutes, turning them after 5 minutes for even browning, until they are golden brown.
  15. 15. Pour the 400g tomato sauce into a pot and heat it.
  16. 16. Remove the cooked meatballs from the air fryer and add them to the sauce.
  17. 17. Let everything simmer gently in the pot for another 2 minutes.
  18. 18. Serve the meatballs with sauce in bowls.
  19. 19. Serve them when the meatballs are firm and the sauce smells fragrant.
