Ingredients
- 400g Chicken thighs
- 2 EL Olive oil
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
- 1 TL Thyme
- 1 TL Oregano
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C. This ensures immediate browning.
- 2. Pat the 400 g chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. Never wash them, as this spreads germs.
- 3. Rub the drumsticks with the 2 tbsp olive oil. The fat conducts the heat.
- 4. Sprinkle 1 tsp salt over them. This draws moisture from the skin for crispiness.
- 5. Season with 1 tsp pepper. Distribute the grains evenly over the skin.
- 6. Sprinkle 1 tsp thyme over them. This herb gives the classic flavour.
- 7. Sprinkle 1 tsp oregano over them. This rounds out the herb aroma.
- 8. Rub the spices firmly into the skin. This helps them stick during cooking.
- 9. Place the drumsticks in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don’t touch.
- 10. Cook the drumsticks at 200 °C for 20 minutes, until they are golden brown.
- 11. Carefully flip the drumsticks with tongs. The first side is now golden brown.
- 12. Cook the drumsticks for another 10 minutes at 200 °C. The skin will now become crispy.
- 13. Check the core: No pink meat on the bone, and the juices should run clear.
- 14. Let the drumsticks rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute in the meat.
- 15. Arrange the drumsticks on a plate. The skin should be golden brown and crispy.
