Instructions

  1. 1. Pat the 400 g chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Never wash them, as this spreads germs.
  2. 2. Lightly score the skin of the thighs in three places. This helps the seasoning penetrate the meat.
  3. 3. Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a small bowl. The oil will bind the spices.
  4. 4. Add 4 tablespoons of BBQ sauce, 1 teaspoon of rosemary, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper.
  5. 5. Stir the marinade smooth with a fork. It should form a thick paste.
  6. 6. Coat the chicken thighs all over with the marinade. Pay attention to the scores.
  7. 7. Let the chicken sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to absorb.
  8. 8. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes for proper cooking.
  9. 9. Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don't touch.
  10. 10. Cook the chicken for 15 minutes at 180 °C, until golden brown. Flip them halfway through (around 7 minutes).
  11. 11. Fry the chicken for another 10 minutes at 180 °C. The skin should be crispy and golden brown.
  12. 12. Remove the basket and check the core temperature. It must be at least 75 °C.
  13. 13. Let the chicken thighs rest on a plate for 5 minutes. This keeps the juices in the meat.
  14. 14. Serve the chicken immediately. The dish is perfect when the skin cracks and the meat is juicy.
