Ingredients
- 400g Chicken thighs
- 2 EL Olive oil
- 4 EL Sugar-free BBQ sauce
- 1 TL Rosemary
- 1 TL Garlic powder
- 1 TL Salt
- 1 TL Pepper
Instructions
- 1. Pat the 400 g chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Never wash them, as this spreads germs.
- 2. Lightly score the skin of the thighs in three places. This helps the seasoning penetrate the meat.
- 3. Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a small bowl. The oil will bind the spices.
- 4. Add 4 tablespoons of BBQ sauce, 1 teaspoon of rosemary, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper.
- 5. Stir the marinade smooth with a fork. It should form a thick paste.
- 6. Coat the chicken thighs all over with the marinade. Pay attention to the scores.
- 7. Let the chicken sit at room temperature for 10 minutes. This allows the flavors to absorb.
- 8. Preheat the air fryer to 180 °C. This takes about 3 minutes for proper cooking.
- 9. Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket. Make sure they don't touch.
- 10. Cook the chicken for 15 minutes at 180 °C, until golden brown. Flip them halfway through (around 7 minutes).
- 11. Fry the chicken for another 10 minutes at 180 °C. The skin should be crispy and golden brown.
- 12. Remove the basket and check the core temperature. It must be at least 75 °C.
- 13. Let the chicken thighs rest on a plate for 5 minutes. This keeps the juices in the meat.
- 14. Serve the chicken immediately. The dish is perfect when the skin cracks and the meat is juicy.
