Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat the air fryer to 200 °C and heat it for 3 minutes.
  2. 2. Pat 400 g chicken thighs dry with paper towels. Never wash them under water.
  3. 3. Peel 4 garlic cloves and press them through a press or chop them finely.
  4. 4. In a large bowl, combine 2 tablespoons olive oil, the chopped garlic, 1 tablespoon thyme, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper.
  5. 5. Rub the dry chicken thighs thoroughly with the marinade on all sides. Make sure every part is covered.
  6. 6. Place the marinated chicken thighs in the air fryer basket. Ensure they don't touch so air can circulate.
  7. 7. Cook the chicken thighs at 200 °C for 15 minutes, until golden brown. Flip them firmly after 7.5 minutes for even browning.
  8. 8. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. It must be at least 75 °C to be safe.
  9. 9. If the temperature isn't reached, cook for another 3–5 minutes and check again. The skin should be crispy.
  10. 10. Remove the basket and let the chicken thighs rest on a plate for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
  11. 11. Pour the remaining cooking fat from the basket into a small bowl. It makes a delicious dip for the chicken thighs.
  12. 12. Arrange the chicken thighs on two plates. They are perfect when the skin is golden brown and crispy and the meat remains juicy.
