  1. 1. Cut the onion in half and peel off the skin.
  2. 2. Slice the onion into thin rings.
  3. 3. Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat.
  4. 4. Sauté the onion rings for about eight to ten minutes until they are soft.
  5. 5. Drain the pickles.
  6. 6. Slice the pickles.
  7. 7. Grill the sausages on the grill rack for about fifteen to twenty minutes.
  8. 8. Turn the sausages regularly so they brown on all sides.
  9. 9. Slice the rolls lengthwise, but do not cut them all the way through.
  10. 10. Spread mustard and ketchup on the rolls.
  11. 11. Place one grilled sausage into each roll.
  12. 12. Garnish the sausages with the sautéed onions and pickle slices as desired.
  13. 13. Alternatively, you can fry the sausages in a pan.
  14. 14. Heat one tablespoon of oil in the pan over medium to high heat.
  15. 15. Fry the sausages for about three to four minutes on each side.
