  1. 1. Warm the milk in a pot for about 1 minute until it is lukewarm.
  2. 2. Crumble the yeast into the lukewarm milk and stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar until the yeast has dissolved.
  3. 3. Cover the pot and let the yeast-milk mixture rest for about 10 minutes.
  4. 4. Pour the yeast-milk mixture into a bowl.
  5. 5. Add 80 grams of sugar, 100 grams of butter, a pinch of salt, cardamom, 1 egg, and the flour.
  6. 6. Knead everything into a smooth dough.
  7. 7. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  8. 8. Divide the dough into two halves.
  9. 9. Roll out each half on a floured surface into a rectangle about 5 millimeters thick.
  10. 10. Melt the remaining butter in a pot.
  11. 11. Brush the dough with the melted butter.
  12. 12. Evenly sprinkle the dough with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 0.5 teaspoon of cinnamon each.
  13. 13. Roll up the dough starting from the long side.
  14. 14. Cut the dough into pieces about 3 centimeters thick.
  15. 15. Place the rolls on two baking sheets lined with baking paper.
  16. 16. Cover the rolls and let them rise for about 30 minutes.
  17. 17. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (conventional fan).
  18. 18. Whisk an egg in a bowl.
  19. 19. Brush the cinnamon rolls with the whisked egg.
  20. 20. Bake the cinnamon rolls in the oven for about 18 minutes until golden brown.
  21. 21. Let the cinnamon rolls cool down or serve them warm.
