  1. 1. Pour the white beans into a colander and rinse them thoroughly with cold water.
  2. 2. Peel the garlic cloves and chop them into coarse cubes.
  3. 3. Rinse the lemon under hot water, finely grate about one teaspoon of the zest, and squeeze the juice from the halved lemon.
  4. 4. Toast the sesame seeds in a pan without fat over medium heat for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  5. 5. Place the drained beans, two tablespoons of lemon juice, the garlic, the toasted sesame seeds, and cumin into a tall container.
  6. 6. Blend the ingredients until they form a very smooth and creamy mixture.
  7. 7. If the mixture is too thick, add a little cold water to reach the desired consistency.
  8. 8. Season the hummus with salt to taste and serve it immediately.
