  1. 1. Pulverize the walnuts in a blender until they are finely ground.
  2. 2. Separate the egg: Remove the yolk and keep the white aside.
  3. 3. Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, egg yolk, and flour in a bowl with a hand mixer until you have a smooth dough.
  4. 4. Add a little water if the dough seems too dry.
  5. 5. Wrap the dough in cling film.
  6. 6. Place the dough in the refrigerator for at least one hour to chill.
  7. 7. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  8. 8. Cut two freezer bags open lengthwise.
  9. 9. Take the dough in portions and roll it out between the two cut bags on a work surface.
  10. 10. Make sure the dough is about three millimeters thick.
  11. 11. Put the rolled-out dough back in the refrigerator for ten minutes.
  12. 12. Cut star shapes out of the cold dough.
  13. 13. Place the stars on a baking sheet lined with baking paper, leaving some space between them.
  14. 14. Bake the stars in the oven for about ten minutes until they are crisp.
  15. 15. Let the baked stars cool down completely on the tray.
  16. 16. Arrange the cooled stars side by side.
  17. 17. Spread orange jam on every second star.
  18. 18. Place another star without jam on top of the jam-covered stars.
  19. 19. Chop the dark chocolate and the white chocolate separately into small pieces.
  20. 20. Bring about 500 milliliters of water to a boil in a pot.
  21. 21. Place a metal bowl over the pot, but make sure the bowl does not touch the hot water.
  22. 22. Melt the white chocolate first in the hot water bath.
  23. 23. Remove the bowl and then melt the dark chocolate in the same way.
  24. 24. Dip half of the stars into the melted dark chocolate.
  25. 25. Fill the white chocolate into a freezer bag.
  26. 26. Cut off a small corner of the bag.
  27. 27. Trace the outlines of the stars with the white chocolate.
  28. 28. Decorate the stars with the remaining walnuts.
  29. 29. Let the chocolate dry completely.
  30. 30. Enjoy your homemade walnut stars.
