🍳 Whole Grain Bread with Homemade Mackerel Paste and Pickled Onions

Ingredients
- mackerel, smoked 1 pc.
- mayonnaise 2 tbsp.
- salt pinch
- pepper, black ground pinch
- rye whole grain bread, sliced 4 slices
- onions, red 1 pc.
- vinegar 100 ml
- sugar 4 tbsp.
- dill, fresh 10 g
Instructions
- 1. Remove the skin and bones from the mackerel, preferably by hand. Mash it in a bowl with a fork, then add mayonnaise and mix thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper.
- 2. Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings. Bring vinegar and sugar to a boil in a small pot. Then add the onion rings and let them steep in the vinegar solution for about 10 minutes.
- 3. Meanwhile, wash the dill, shake it dry, and remove the thick stems. Chop the dill roughly. Spread the mackerel paste on the bread, place the pickled onion rings on top, and sprinkle with chopped dill. Serve and enjoy!
