🍽️ Vegan Gyros Plate with Seitan

Ingredients
- long-grain rice 300 g
- salt pinch
- onions, red 1 pc.
- seitan basic recipe 600 g
- olive oil 4 tbsp
- gyro spice 2 tsp
- dill, fresh 10 g
- garlic cloves 1 pc.
- lemons 1 pc.
- soy yogurt 200 g
- pepper, black ground pinch
- olives, black 80 g
- salad cucumbers 1 pc.
- cherry tomatoes mix 200 g
- romaine lettuce 1 pc.
Instructions
- 1. Bring approximately 700 milliliters of salted water to a boil in a pot.
- 2. Add the rice to the boiling water.
- 3. Cover the pot and cook the rice on medium heat for approximately 15 minutes.
- 4. Cut the onions in half and remove the skin.
- 5. Slice the peeled onions into thin strips.
- 6. Tear the seitan into small, irregular pieces.
- 7. Place the seitan pieces into a bowl.
- 8. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the gyros seasoning.
- 9. Mix everything well so that the seitan is marinated.
- 10. Wash the dill under running water.
- 11. Shake the dill dry.
- 12. Remove the thick stems from the dill.
- 13. Finely chop the dill.
- 14. Peel the garlic cloves.
- 15. Finely chop the garlic.
- 16. Wash the lemon thoroughly.
- 17. Cut the lemon in half.
- 18. Squeeze the juice from the lemon.
- 19. Place the soy yogurt into a separate bowl.
- 20. Add the chopped garlic.
- 21. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
- 22. Add the chopped dill.
- 23. Season the dip with salt and pepper to taste.
- 24. Place the olives in a sieve to drain.
- 25. Wash the cucumber.
- 26. Cut off the ends of the cucumber.
- 27. Cut the cucumber lengthwise into quarters.
- 28. Cut the cucumber pieces into bite-sized chunks.
- 29. Wash the tomatoes.
- 30. Cut the tomatoes lengthwise into quarters.
- 31. Cut the lettuce in half.
- 32. Remove the hard core from the lettuce.
- 33. Cut the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.
- 34. Wash the cut lettuce pieces.
- 35. Let the lettuce drain.
- 36. Place 2 tablespoons of lemon juice into a small bowl.
- 37. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- 38. Whisk the mixture vigorously.
- 39. Season the dressing mixture with salt and pepper.
- 40. Place the cucumber pieces into a large bowl.
- 41. Add the tomato pieces.
- 42. Add the drained olives.
- 43. Add the drained lettuce.
- 44. Mix all salad ingredients well.
- 45. Set the salad aside.
- 46. Heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan.
- 47. Set the heat to medium-high.
- 48. Place the marinated seitan into the hot pan.
- 49. Add the sliced onions.
- 50. Fry the mixture for approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
- 51. Stir occasionally while frying.
- 52. Fluff the cooked rice with a fork.
- 53. Get your plates ready.
- 54. Place the seitan gyros on the plates.
- 55. Add the salad.
- 56. Add the garlic sauce.
- 57. Add the rice.
- 58. Serve the dish immediately.
