🍰 Vegan Plum Dumplings with Vanilla Sauce

Ingredients
- all-purpose flour, Type 405 125 g
- cornstarch 3 tbsp
- semolina 75 g
- salt pinch
- soy yogurt 200 g
- oil 2 tbsp
- orange peel, grated 1 tsp
- plums 8 pcs
- vanilla pod 1 pcs
- almond milk 400 ml
- sugar 2 tbsp
- margarine, vegan 6 tbsp
- breadcrumbs 8 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Mix flour, one tablespoon of cornstarch, semolina, and salt in a bowl.
- 2. Add soy yogurt, two tablespoons of oil, and the grated zest of an orange.
- 3. Stir everything together to form a slightly sticky dough.
- 4. Cover the dough with a cloth.
- 5. Let the dough rest in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
- 6. Wash the plums under running water.
- 7. Cut the plums in half and remove the pits.
- 8. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise.
- 9. Scrape out the vanilla seeds with the back of a knife.
- 10. Put almond milk, sugar, the vanilla seeds, and the empty pod into a pot.
- 11. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- 12. Let the sauce steep on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- 13. Mix two tablespoons of cornstarch with four tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl.
- 14. Remove the vanilla pod from the pot.
- 15. Bring the liquid back to a boil.
- 16. Stir in the cornstarch and water mixture.
- 17. Let the sauce simmer for about 2 minutes until it becomes slightly creamy.
- 18. Bring about three liters of salted water to a boil in a large pot.
- 19. Shape the dough into a roll on a lightly floured surface.
- 20. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
- 21. Cut the roll into eight equal pieces.
- 22. Flatten each piece of dough slightly.
- 23. Place a plum half in the center.
- 24. Wrap the plum with the dough.
- 25. Shape the dumplings into balls.
- 26. Cook the dumplings in the simmering water for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- 27. Reduce the heat so that the water only lightly simmers.
- 28. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon.
- 29. Let the dumplings drain.
- 30. Heat margarine in a pan over medium heat.
- 31. Toast the breadcrumbs for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
- 32. Add the drained dumplings to the pan.
- 33. Fry the dumplings for another 2 minutes.
- 34. Serve the plum dumplings on plates.
- 35. Drizzle with vanilla sauce.
