🍽️ Vegan Chestnut Chocolate Crescents

Ingredients
- Chestnuts - peeled 200 g
- Almonds, ground 70 g
- Wheat flour Type 550 150 g
- Icing sugar 100 g
- Vanilla sugar 1 packet
- Salt pinch
- Margarine, vegan 150 g
- Chocolate, dark 100 g
- Sunflower oil 3 tsp
Instructions
- 1. Put the chestnuts and ground almonds into a mixer or use a hand blender.
- 2. Blend the ingredients until you have a very fine and smooth paste.
- 3. Take a large bowl and mix the flour, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt together.
- 4. Add the chestnut paste and the margarine to the flour mixture in the bowl.
- 5. Knead everything by hand or with a machine until you have a smooth and pliable dough.
- 6. Lightly dust a work surface with flour.
- 7. Divide the dough and shape it into long rolls about 2 cm thick.
- 8. Cover the dough rolls and place them in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- 9. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
- 10. If you are using fan-assisted heat, set the oven to 160 degrees Celsius.
- 11. Take the chilled dough rolls out of the refrigerator.
- 12. Cut each roll into about 25 equal slices.
- 13. Shape each individual slice into a roll about 8 to 10 cm long.
- 14. Bend the roll into a crescent shape.
- 15. Make sure that the ends of the crescents are slightly thinner than the middle.
- 16. Line two baking sheets with baking paper.
- 17. Carefully place the crescents onto the baking sheets.
- 18. Leave some space between the individual crescents.
- 19. Bake the crescents for about 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
- 20. Remove the crescents as soon as they are lightly golden brown.
- 21. Let the crescents cool down completely on a rack or plate.
- 22. Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces.
- 23. Put the chocolate pieces and the oil into a metal bowl.
- 24. Place the metal bowl over a pot with hot, but not boiling, water.
- 25. Melt the chocolate while stirring occasionally.
- 26. Dip the ends of the cooled crescents into the melted chocolate.
- 27. Place the dipped crescents on fresh baking paper.
- 28. Let the chocolate dry in the air.
- 29. Decorate the crescents as you like with chopped nuts, orange zest, or powdered sugar.
