  1. 1. Cut the bread rolls into coarse cubes and place them side by side in a shallow dish.
  2. 2. Halve the onions, peel them, and dice them finely.
  3. 3. Heat 2 tablespoons of margarine in a pot over medium heat.
  4. 4. Sauté the onions for about 2 minutes.
  5. 5. Deglaze the onions with Barista oat drink and heat the mixture.
  6. 6. Pour the oat drink mixture over the bread cubes until they are just soaked.
  7. 7. Let the bread cool and absorb the liquid.
  8. 8. Squeeze the bread rolls slightly and place them in a bowl.
  9. 9. Add cornstarch, the sautéed onions, Reibegenuss (a vegan cheese alternative), nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  10. 10. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  11. 11. If the mixture is too soft, add breadcrumbs spoonful by spoonful.
  12. 12. With damp hands, shape 8 to 10 dumplings from the mixture.
  13. 13. Bring about 5 liters of salted water to a boil in a pot with a lid.
  14. 14. Let the dumplings cook in the boiling water for about 20 minutes with the lid on, using low heat.
  15. 15. Remove the dumplings from the water with a slotted spoon and let them drain.
  16. 16. Melt 4 tablespoons of margarine in a frying pan over medium heat.
  17. 17. Add 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs and let them slowly turn brown over low heat for about 8 minutes.
  18. 18. Peel the apples, quarter them, and remove the core.
  19. 19. Dice the apples finely.
  20. 20. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pot.
  21. 21. Sauté the apple cubes for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  22. 22. Add the sauerkraut and let it simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  23. 23. Distribute the apple sauerkraut onto the plates.
  24. 24. Place the dumplings on top.
  25. 25. Serve the dumplings with the brown margarine.
