Ingredients
- Salt pinch
- Yellow onions 1 pc.
- White cabbage 0.5 pc.
- Oil 2 tbsp
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Cumin, whole pinch
- Whipping cream 200 ml
- Spätzle, fresh 500 g
- Alpine cheese 200 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (fan). Boil about 5 liters of salted water in a pot. Halve the onion, peel it, and dice it finely. Quarter the cabbage, remove the core, and cut it into strips.
- 2. Heat the oil in a pot over medium heat. Sauté the cabbage with the onions for about 3 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and caraway, then add the cream. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes.
- 3. Cook the spätzle in boiling salted water for about 4 minutes, until they float to the surface. Drain them in a colander and let them drip dry. Then combine the spätzle in the pot with the cabbage.
- 4. Transfer the spätzle-cabbage mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle cheese on top. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes until the cheese is golden brown. Remove the baked spätzle from the oven and serve.
