🍝 Classic Cheese Pasta Bake with Spinach and Ham

Ingredients
- Salt pinch
- Onions, yellow 1 pc.
- Butter 2 tbsp
- Wheat flour, Type 405 2 tbsp
- Milk 300 ml
- Heavy cream 100 g
- Pepper, black ground pinch
- Penne Rigate 500 g
- Leaf spinach 200 g
- Black Forest ham 125 g
- Nutmeg, ground pinch
- Paprika, sweet 0.25 tsp
- Emmental grated 250 g
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius using top and bottom heat.
- 2. Bring about 5 liters of water to a boil in a large pot and add some salt.
- 3. Halve an onion, peel it, and cut it into fine cubes.
- 4. Melt butter in a pot over medium heat.
- 5. Sauté the onion cubes for about 2 minutes until they are translucent.
- 6. Dust the onions with flour and stir continuously for about 1 minute.
- 7. Deglaze the mixture with milk and cream and bring it to a boil.
- 8. Let the sauce simmer for approx. 12 to 15 minutes.
- 9. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- 10. Cook the pasta in the boiling salted water for 9 to 11 minutes until al dente.
- 11. Drain the pasta and let it drip dry for a moment.
- 12. Wash the spinach thoroughly and dry it in a salad spinner.
- 13. Tear the ham into small pieces using your hands.
- 14. Season the cream sauce with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and paprika powder.
- 15. Stir 100 grams of the cheese into the sauce until it has melted.
- 16. Add the spinach and ham to the sauce and heat everything briefly.
- 17. Mix the pasta with the sauce in a baking dish.
- 18. Distribute the mixture evenly in the dish.
- 19. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the bake.
- 20. Bake the dish for about 25 minutes in the oven until golden brown.
