  1. 1. Open the can of tuna and drain the water or oil using a sieve.
  2. 2. Peel the onion and cut it in half.
  3. 3. Wash the bell pepper thoroughly.
  4. 4. Cut the bell pepper in half.
  5. 5. Remove the tough stem and seeds from the inside of the pepper.
  6. 6. Wash the basil leaves.
  7. 7. Shake the basil dry so that no water remains on the leaves.
  8. 8. Pick off the larger stems from the basil.
  9. 9. Place the halved onion into the mixing container.
  10. 10. Chop the onion for 4 seconds on speed 8.
  11. 11. Use a spatula to push the onion pieces down from the sides of the container.
  12. 12. Add the oil to the container.
  13. 13. Sauté the onions for 3 minutes on the sauté setting.
  14. 14. Add the prepared bell pepper to the container.
  15. 15. Add the basil to the container.
  16. 16. Add the drained tuna to the container.
  17. 17. Chop the mixture for 5 seconds on speed 8.
  18. 18. Use a spatula to push the ingredients down from the sides of the container.
  19. 19. Add the cream cheese to the mixture.
  20. 20. Season with salt to taste.
  21. 21. Season with pepper to taste.
  22. 22. Fold everything together gently for 4 seconds on speed 4 until creamy.
  23. 23. Fill the finished spread into jars.
  24. 24. Store the spread in the refrigerator or serve it immediately.
