  1. 1. Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil.
  2. 2. Carefully place the egg into the boiling water and cook it for about 8 minutes until hard-boiled.
  3. 3. Remove the egg from the water and immediately hold it under cold running water so it is easy to peel.
  4. 4. Peel the egg and cut it into fine cubes.
  5. 5. Halve the shallot, remove the skin, and cut it into fine cubes as well.
  6. 6. Halve the gherkin and cut it into fine cubes.
  7. 7. Put mayonnaise, ketchup, tomato paste, vinegar, soy sauce, one tablespoon of gherkin juice, and chili powder into a tall container.
  8. 8. Puree the ingredients with a hand blender until the mixture is fine and smooth.
  9. 9. Gently fold in the diced shallot, egg, and gherkin into the sauce.
  10. 10. Season the dressing to taste with salt and pepper.
  11. 11. Pour the dressing over your salad or store it in a closed jar in the refrigerator.
