  3. 3. Place butter and chocolate in a clean metal bowl.
  4. 4. Place the bowl over the hot water, but ensure no water gets into the bowl.
  5. 5. Melt the butter and chocolate for about 5 minutes while stirring.
  6. 6. Wash the apple thoroughly.
  7. 7. Cut the apple into quarters.
  8. 8. Remove the core from the apple.
  9. 9. Grate the apple coarsely.
  10. 10. Mix the melted butter and chocolate with an egg in the bowl.
  11. 11. Add sugar and vanilla sugar gradually.
  12. 12. Mix the flour with the baking powder.
  13. 13. Gently fold the flour mixture into the butter-sugar mixture.
  14. 14. Add the milk.
  15. 15. Stir the batter until no lumps remain.
  16. 16. Fold in the grated apples and cinnamon.
