🍽️ Sweet and Sour Pork with Rice

Ingredients
- garlic cloves 3 pcs.
- ginger, fresh 20 g
- chili, ground pinch
- soy sauce 2 tbsp
- vinegar 2 tbsp
- quick-cook pork steaks 600 g
- bell pepper, red 2 pcs.
- spring onions 1 bunch
- spinach leaves 150 g
- vine tomatoes 2 pcs.
- long grain rice 300 g
- salt pinch
- oil 2 tbsp
- brown sugar 2 tsp
- cornstarch 1 tbsp
Instructions
- 1. Peel the garlic and the ginger.
- 2. Press the garlic and ginger mixture through a press or chop it very finely.
- 3. Mix the garlic and ginger mixture with some chili, soy sauce, and two tablespoons of vinegar in a bowl.
- 4. Stir the ingredients to form a tasty marinade.
- 5. Rinse the pork steaks under running water.
- 6. Pat the meat dry with a kitchen towel.
- 7. Cut the meat into strips about one centimeter wide.
- 8. Mix the meat strips with the prepared marinade.
- 9. Set the bowl aside to let the meat marinate.
- 10. Wash the bell peppers under running water.
- 11. Remove the stem and seeds from the bell pepper.
- 12. Cut the bell pepper into cubes.
- 13. Clean the spring onions.
- 14. Cut the spring onions into two to three centimeter long pieces.
- 15. Wash the spinach thoroughly.
- 16. Spin the spinach dry.
- 17. Remove the thick stems from the spinach.
- 18. Wash the tomatoes.
- 19. Remove the stems from the tomatoes.
- 20. Cut the tomatoes into cubes.
- 21. Bring a pot with 700 milliliters of salted water to a boil.
- 22. Add the rice to the boiling water.
- 23. Reduce the heat to low.
- 24. Let the rice cook for about twelve to fifteen minutes.
- 25. Heat oil in a frying pan or wok on high temperature.
- 26. Let the marinated meat drain.
- 27. Catch the remaining marinade in a small container.
- 28. Fry the meat in the hot oil for about three minutes, turning it frequently.
- 29. Turn the meat frequently while frying.
- 30. Add the bell pepper cubes and spring onion pieces to the pan.
- 31. Stir-fry the vegetables for another two to three minutes.
- 32. Deglaze the meat with the collected marinade.
- 33. Pour 150 milliliters of water into the sauce.
- 34. Season the sauce with a little salt and sugar.
- 35. Add the prepared spinach to the pan.
- 36. Let the spinach wilt.
- 37. Add the tomato cubes.
- 38. Cook the tomatoes for about two to three minutes.
- 39. Adjust the sauce with more vinegar or sugar if needed.
- 40. Mix the starch with a little water in a small bowl.
- 41. Thicken the sauce slightly with the starch-water mixture.
- 42. Serve the sweet and sour pork together with the rice.
