  1. 1. Add 300 milliliters of milk, yeast, and one tablespoon of sugar to the mixing bowl.
  2. 2. Mix the ingredients for two minutes at speed 1 and 37 degrees Celsius without placing the measuring cup on top.
  3. 3. Add the raisins, flour, remaining sugar, softened butter, eggs, and a pinch of salt.
  4. 4. Knead the dough for two minutes on the kneading setting until it is smooth.
  5. 5. Remove the dough from the bowl and shape it into a ball.
  6. 6. Place the dough ball in a bowl and cover it with a damp kitchen towel.
  7. 7. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about one hour, until it has doubled in size.
  8. 8. Roll out the dough and divide it into three strands, each about 30 centimeters long.
  9. 9. Braid the three strands loosely into a braid.
  10. 10. Place the braid on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. 11. Press the ends of the braid firmly to keep its shape.
  12. 12. Let the braid rest, covered, for another 15 minutes.
  13. 13. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius with top and bottom heat.
  14. 14. Brush the braid with the remaining milk.
  15. 15. Bake the braid in the oven for about 25 to 30 minutes.
  16. 16. Let the braid cool down slightly.
  17. 17. Serve the braid warm or cold.
