  1. 1. Peel the garlic clove and mince it very finely.
  2. 2. Mix the minced garlic with the olive oil in a small bowl.
  3. 3. Rinse the meat and pat it dry with a kitchen towel.
  4. 4. Rub the meat all over with the garlic-oil mixture.
  5. 5. Let the meat rest for a short moment to absorb the oil.
  6. 6. Rinse the tomatoes under running water.
  7. 7. Remove the hard stem area from the top of the tomatoes.
  8. 8. Slice the tomatoes into even slices.
  9. 9. Halve the onion and peel off the outer skin.
  10. 10. Slice the onion into very thin rings.
  11. 11. Rinse the arugula and let it drain well.
  12. 12. Take half of the arugula and chop it roughly.
  13. 13. Put the mayonnaise and the mustard into a separate bowl.
  14. 14. Mix the mayonnaise and mustard thoroughly.
  15. 15. Season the sauce with a pinch of salt.
  16. 16. Add freshly ground pepper.
  17. 17. Add a small amount of sugar to balance the acidity.
  18. 18. Fold the roughly chopped half of the arugula into the finished sauce.
  19. 19. Preheat your grill to the highest setting.
  20. 20. Place the steak on the hot grill.
  21. 21. Grill the steak for about 4 minutes on the first side.
  22. 22. Flip the steak and grill it for another 4 minutes on the other side.
  23. 23. Slice the ciabatta bread in half.
  24. 24. Open the bread so it unfolds like a book.
  25. 25. Brush the inner cut surfaces with the remaining garlic oil.
  26. 26. Place the bread with the cut side down on the grill.
  27. 27. Grill the cut surface for about 2 minutes until golden brown.
  28. 28. Flip the bread and grill the other side for 2 minutes as well.
  29. 29. Take the cooked steak off the grill and place it on a work surface.
  30. 30. Wrap the steak tightly in aluminum foil.
  31. 31. Let the wrapped steak rest for 5 minutes.
  32. 32. Spread the arugula mayonnaise onto the grilled inside of the ciabatta.
  33. 33. Place the onion rings evenly on top of the sauce.
  34. 34. Distribute the tomato slices over the onions.
  35. 35. Slice the rested steak into thin slices.
  36. 36. Place the meat slices on top of the bread with toppings.
  37. 37. Season the meat once more lightly with salt and pepper.
  38. 38. Garnish the sandwich with the remaining fresh arugula.
  39. 39. Serve the sandwich immediately and enjoy it.
