  2. 2. Grate about one teaspoon of the lime zest.
  3. 3. Cut the lime in half and squeeze out the juice.
  4. 4. Warm about 50 milliliters of water in a pot over medium heat.
  5. 5. Dissolve the coffee in the warm water.
  6. 6. Let the coffee mixture cool down.
  7. 7. Sift powdered sugar into a bowl.
  8. 8. Take half of the powdered sugar and mix it with the lime juice.
  9. 9. Stir until a thick glaze forms.
  10. 10. Take the other half of the powdered sugar and mix it with the cooled espresso.
  11. 11. Stir until a thick glaze forms.
  12. 12. Set both glaze bowls aside, covered.
  13. 13. Grate the chocolate coarsely.
  14. 14. Bring about 250 milliliters of water with butter to a boil in a pot.
  15. 15. Mix flour, starch, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a separate bowl.
  16. 16. Add the flour mixture all at once to the boiling butter-water mixture.
  17. 17. Stir with a hand mixer and dough hooks until a dough ball forms.
  18. 18. Remove the pot from the heat.
  19. 19. Work the eggs into the dough one by one.
  20. 20. Fill the dough into a piping bag with a star tip.
  21. 21. Pipe about eight wreaths onto a greased baking sheet.
  22. 22. Let the wreaths dry for about five minutes.
  23. 23. Heat oil in a pot or deep fryer on the highest setting.
  24. 24. Check the oil temperature by holding a wooden spoon handle in the oil.
  25. 25. The oil is ready when bubbles rise from the wood.

  27. 27. Fry the cakes for about four minutes until golden brown.
